Electric vehicle owners in Simpang Ampat, Penang now have a new fast-charging option. DC Handal has launched four EV charge points at Pearl City Mall, the most powerful charging site in the Bandar Tasek Mutiara area.
According to SoyaCincau, the deployment consists of a standalone 60kW DC charger with two CCS2 nozzles and two 22kW AC charge points. All four units sit in the outdoor carpark area of the mall.
The 60kW DC charger is the highest-output unit in the Simpang Ampat neighbourhood. It caters to EV owners who need a quick top-up while visiting the mall, particularly those shopping at C Mart Premium.
DC Handal’s Pearl City Mall chargers accept contactless credit and debit cards at a card terminal, which also supports TNG eWallet QR payment. Drivers can also activate charging through the ChargEV, JomCharge or Gentari Go apps. No app registration is required for contactless payments.
Pricing is set at RM1.20 per kWh for DC charging and RM1.00 per kWh for AC charging.
The Pearl City Mall deployment follows DC Handal’s recent expansion at Sunway Carnival Mall in Seberang Perai, where the company installed a 240kW DC charger with four bays alongside 23 AC charge points. DC Handal now operates multiple charging sites across Penang.
