Jabil has launched a 417,000-square-foot intelligent logistics hub in Penang, packing the facility with artificial intelligence, autonomous robots, and real-time digital tracking to streamline how materials move through its regional supply chain.
The hub sits in Valdor Industrial Park in Sungai Jawi and is designed to handle end-to-end material flow, from inbound receipts to just-in-time delivery on production lines, according to Jabil.
“Supply chain volatility, rising logistics and operating costs, and the need for greater visibility into inventory are a few challenges faced in today’s advanced manufacturing and electronics supply chains,” said Jabil Senior Vice President of Operations HH Yeo. “Coupled with the growth we see in the region, the new facility is a timely investment to enhance our automation capability and help Jabil grow to meet our customers’ future needs.”
The facility accommodates 52,300 pallet positions and runs a fully automated storage and retrieval system, climate-controlled zones for sensitive materials such as semiconductors, and high-bay stacker cranes. A fleet of roughly 160 autonomous mobile robots, forklift mobile robots, sky transfer units, robotic arms, and automated scanning systems manage material movement from receiving through fulfilment.
At its core, an integrated Digital Twin platform powered by AI and IoT technologies delivers real-time visibility across the operation. The system enables preventive maintenance, energy optimisation, and end-to-end inventory traceability, giving Jabil granular control over stock levels and delivery timelines.
The hub supports kitting, sequencing, packing, cross-docking, and automated storage alongside JIT delivery to production lines.
PTT Synergy Group Berhad delivered the facility through its subsidiary PROTT Sdn Bhd. PTT Synergy Executive Chairman Dato’ Hj Abd Rahim bin Hj Jaafar said the project showed Malaysia’s capacity to build world-class industrial infrastructure for global supply chains.
The facility was constructed to FM Global standards for resilience and security. A rooftop solar photovoltaic system is scheduled for installation in September 2026, supporting Jabil’s target of GreenRE Bronze certification.
Jabil opened its first Penang operation in 1995. The company now runs eight facilities across Malaysia, employs more than 14,000 people, and serves industries including automotive and transportation, cloud and data centre infrastructure, defence and aerospace, healthcare, and semiconductor capital equipment. The new hub reinforces Penang’s position as a key manufacturing and logistics base within Jabil’s regional network.
