Iconic Marjorie Penang Opens Doors Ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026

Iconic Penang Sdn Bhd has opened Iconic Marjorie Penang, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, a 298-room five-star property in Bayan Lepas. The hotel joins Marriott International’s global collection and aims to capture the expected tourist influx during Visit Malaysia 2026.

The hotel draws inspiration from Penang’s Baba-Nyonya heritage. Guests can access an infinity pool, jacuzzi, 24-hour fitness centre, and the WellNest Spa on level 13. The spa features Peranakan-inspired wellness treatments and city views.

Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ramli bin Ngah Talib attended the grand opening, along with Toh Puan Raja Dato’ Seri Utama Noora Ashikin binti Raja Abdullah, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Tourism Minister Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Penang Island Mayor Dato Ir. Rajendran A/L P. Anthony, Seberang Perai Mayor Dato’ Haji Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid, and former Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Steven Sim, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Sim Tze Tzin, Tourism Malaysia Chairman Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Deputy Chairman Dato Yeoh Soon Hin, and Director-General Mohd Amirul Rizal also joined the ceremony.

State government representatives included Penang State EXCO members Fahmi Zainol and Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, former state excos Dato Seri Phee Boon Poh and Dato Seri Lim Hock Seng, ADUN for Sungai Puyu Phee Syn Tze, and ADUN for Tambun Goh Choon Aik. Marriott International sent Vice President of Asset Management Yeoh Soo Hin.

We recognize and appreciate the Penang State Government’s efforts to grow the tourism industry. This includes the development of new attractions, infrastructure and facilities, major events such as the Penang International Dragon Boat Regatta, and increasing the number of global flights into Penang.

“With the grand opening of Iconic Marjorie Penang, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, the Iconic Group is well positioned to capitalize on the influx of tourists into Penang and contribute to the growth of Penang’s tourism industry.”

The RM180 million project marks the second hotel by Iconic Group, which opened the 195-room Iconic Hotel in Seberang Perai in 2016. Hirsch Bedner Associates designed the property.

WellNest Spa blends traditional healing with modern wellness treatments. The spa offers Peranakan Rolling Therapy, which uses warm bamboo and flowing movements to ease muscle tension, and the WellNest Signature Therapy, a full-body treatment with body scrub, mask, hair and scalp care, and mini facial.

Three dining venues serve guests. Tiffin Hall offers communal dining with dishes inspired by Penang’s food heritage, weekend buffet dinners, and daily set lunches. Loom & Leafs Lounge serves local snacks, drinks, and themed afternoon tea with pastries and savouries. Senses Bar provides poolside relaxation with signature cocktails, premium wines and spirits, panoramic views, and live bands from Friday to Sunday.
