Culinary talents of Amari SPICE Penang recognised at BOTC 2024

GEORGE TOWN: The Battle of the Chefs Penang, a prestigious culinary competition now in its 19th edition, recently celebrated the exceptional talents of Amari SPICE Penang’s F&B team. This biennial event, which began in 1988, saw the hotel’s staff earn several awards in their respective categories, showcasing the depth of skill within the Amari SPICE Penang’s culinary ranks.

The competition, held from 27 to 29 June 2024, provided a platform for the hotel’s team to demonstrate their expertise across various culinary and service disciplines. Their impressive performance comes as the hotel approaches its two-year anniversary, having opened its doors on 9th September 2022.

In the Mocktails category, Leonard Siah clinched a Silver Award, impressing judges with his creative and flavourful non-alcoholic concoctions. His achievement highlights the growing importance of innovative, alcohol-free options in the beverage industry.

Wesley Ting Cze Khie showcased his mixology skills in the Cocktails division, earning a Diploma for his creation in the Penang Baba Nyonya Cocktail Theme. This recognition underscores the hotel’s commitment to incorporating local cultural elements into their beverage offerings.

The art of coffee-making was on full display as Rahulizam Alif Hafizd bin Abdul Rahman demonstrated his artistry, earning a Diploma in the Latte Art category. His achievement reflects the growing appreciation for the visual aspect of coffee service.

In the Fine Dine Table Setting category, Toh Wei Giap impressed the judges with his attention to detail and aesthetic sense, securing a Gold Award. This accolade emphasises the hotel’s dedication to providing a high-quality dining experience that extends beyond just the food.

The Sweet Sensation category saw the duo of Sofea Sabrina binti Husin and Thanakith a/l Pramoot combine their talents to bag a Bronze Award. Their achievement showcases the hotel’s strength in pastry and dessert creation, an increasingly important aspect of modern culinary arts.

These accolades not only highlight the individual talents within the Amari SPICE Penang team but also reflect the hotel’s overall commitment to culinary excellence and guest satisfaction.
