G Hotel Gurney has taken three titles at the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2026, the second year in a row the Gurney Drive hotel has landed a triple at the annual ceremony. The hotel was named Best Luxury Business Hotel in Asia, Best Luxury Conference & Event Hotel in Malaysia and Best Luxury MICE Hotel in Malaysia.
The awards were presented at a gala dinner at the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok in Thailand on Saturday, 24 October. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the World Luxury Awards, which held two galas for the milestone, one in Bucharest, Romania, and the other in Bangkok.
General manager Michael Hanratty and marketing and communications manager Karen Sim attended the Bangkok ceremony and accepted the three awards on the hotel’s behalf.

The result follows the hotel’s triple win at the 2025 edition and keeps it among the Malaysian properties recognised in the awards’ business, conference and MICE categories. The ceremony brought together hospitality professionals and award-winning establishments from around the world, according to the hotel.
“To receive this recognition for the second year running means a great deal to us,” Hanratty said. “These accolades reflect our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences, from luxury stays to business meetings, conferences and events. Whether guests are here for a holiday or business trip, we want them to feel well looked after. These awards recognise the hard work our team puts in every day, and we thank our guests and partners for their continued support.”
G Hotel Gurney sits on Persiaran Gurney and holds 312 rooms, with interiors built around contemporary architecture and a design-led look. Its sister property, G Hotel Kelawai, has 208 rooms and sits on Persiaran Maktab. Both hotels are a short walk from Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon, and minutes from the Gurney Drive hawker centre, Batu Ferringhi beach and the UNESCO world heritage sites of George Town.
The hotel group said the three awards strengthen its position as a luxury lifestyle, business and MICE destination, and raise Penang’s profile in the international hospitality market. G Hotel Gurney’s business and conference categories place it alongside city hotels competing for corporate travellers and event organisers across the region.
The awards recognise hotels across business, lifestyle, resort, spa and event categories, with the winners announced at the annual galas.
The three 2026 titles add to the hotel’s collection of international awards and give Penang another entry on the global hospitality map. For a hotel that has now taken a triple two years running, the next test is whether the winning run continues into 2027.
