At least 144 people have died and 732 have been injured in Myanmar following a 7.7-magnitude earthquake, as reported by the Information Team of Myanmar’s State Administration Council according to Xinhua. Chairman of the State Administration Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, stated that the fatalities included 96 in the capital Nay Pyi Taw, 18 in Sagaing, and 30 in Kyaukse. There were 432 injuries in Nay Pyi Taw and 300 in Sagaing.
Significant damage has been reported to buildings, and rescue operations are in progress. Min Aung Hlaing has also appealed for assistance from the international community, as per the report.
