Four hundred runners, walkers, volunteers, associates, partners and members of the public came together for the Penang Region Road to Give 2026 on 18 October, all with one purpose: to give back.

Hosted by Penang Marriott Hotel, the charity morning raised support for the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and St. Nicholas’ Home Penang. It ran under Marriott International’s Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction platform, which brings associates from Marriott properties across the Penang Region together with corporate partners, sponsors and the wider community.

The event was flagged off at Penang Marriott Hotel by Y.B. Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, Penang State EXCO for Youth, Sports and Health, who returned for the second consecutive year to support the initiative. Members of St. Nicholas’ Home Penang also joined the run, which added a spirit of inclusion and togetherness to the morning.

Gooi commended the initiative for bringing sports, community and social responsibility together, and noted that events like Road to Give can inspire people to come together and make a positive difference.

Mr Michael Farag, Multi-Property General Manager of the Penang Marriott Complex, said the event shows what collective action can achieve.

“Road to Give is more than just a run. It is about bringing our associates, partners and community together to make a positive difference. This year, we are proud to support the National Kidney Foundation and St. Nicholas’ Home Penang, two organisations doing meaningful work for our community. Every registration, donation, step and cheer contributes to a greater purpose.”

A special word of appreciation went to AMD, the main sponsor of Road to Give 2026, for its support in making the event possible.

The charity morning also drew on the work of Marriott associates across the Penang Region, volunteers, corporate partners, sponsors and community members. Together they helped build an energetic and inclusive event that went beyond fundraising to encourage healthier lifestyles and stronger community ties.

Participants and guests enjoyed family-friendly activities through the morning, with the focus kept on health, wellness and giving back.

The Road to Give Charity Run is part of Marriott International’s Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction commitment to creating positive social and environmental impact in the communities where Marriott operates. It brings associates, guests, partners and communities together through fundraising, volunteering and community engagement.

As host hotel for the 2026 Penang Region Road to Give, Penang Marriott Hotel said it looks forward to building on the spirit of the event in the years ahead. “Together, we run. Together, we give. Together, we make a difference.”
