The Road Transport Department collected RM91.2 million from bidding for the new “H” series special registration numbers, with the plate “H 1” fetching a record RM10,777,777, the Ministry of Transport confirmed on 21 September.
The total of RM91,206,642 came from bidding held entirely on the JPJeBid system from 16 to 20 September, Bernama reported. Of that, RM89,266,542 was bid revenue and RM1,940,100 was service fees. The series was introduced to mark Malaysia Day 2026.
A total of 34,664 bidders participated and 8,223 registration numbers were sold, bringing the average price per number to roughly RM10,860 based on bid revenue.
The plate “H 1” dominated the auction by a wide margin. The next highest was “H 9” at RM4,969,999, followed by “H 3” at RM4,209,777, “H 5” at RM4,007,777 and “H 8” at RM4 million, Malay Mail noted. “H 6” went for RM3.38 million, “H 2” for RM3.18 million and “H 7” for RM3.1 million. “H 4” fetched RM2,437,777 and “H 11” RM1,557,777.
The RM10.78 million price for “H 1” easily eclipsed the previous record of RM1.75 million set by the “FFF 1” plate in the FFF series launched in 2024, as noted by paultan.org.
The numbers drawing the most bidders were “H 1001” and “H 100” with 37 each, followed by “H 1805” with 36 and “H 1777” and “H 4818” with 32 each.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the result proved the success of the government’s move to digitise bidding through JPJeBid, which makes bidding “easier, faster, more efficient and transparent,” Bernama reported. He added that half the proceeds would go to the federal consolidated fund and the other half would finance people-oriented initiatives by the Transport Ministry.
“The ‘H’ series was originally used as registration numbers for taxis. Therefore, with this substantial revenue, the ministry will use the funds to assist taxi and rental car drivers across the country,” Loke said, as reported by Malaysiakini.
Loke also expressed appreciation to JPJ personnel for ensuring the bidding process ran smoothly, and said the government would continue to intensify the digitalisation of services to ensure national revenue translates into benefits for the people.
