Penang LRT Works: 75 Days of Lane Closures on Jalan Kampung Relau, Tun Dr Awang

Motorists in Penang should prepare for 75 days of intermittent lane closures along Jalan Kampung Relau and Jalan Tun Dr Awang starting today, as MRT Corp begins drainage and road widening works for the Mutiara Line LRT Project.

[Malay Mail](https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2026/07/31/partial-lane-closures-in-penang-for-lrt-works-on-jalan-kampung-relau-tun-dr-awang-from-aug-1/229716) reported that Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the closures would run from 8am to 4pm daily until 15 October.

The affected areas involve the leftmost lane in front of Penang International Commercial City (PICC) towards Bayan Lepas, the leftmost lane in front of the Petron Bukit Jambul petrol station heading towards Komtar and the leftmost lane from the Jalan Tun Dr Awang entry slip road to Jalan Kampung Relau and SMK Sungai Nibong heading towards Komtar.

[Pocket News](https://www.pocketnews.com.my/2026/08/01/partial-lane-closures-along-jalan-kampung-relau-jalan-tun-dr-awang-from-aug-1/) reported that other lanes will remain open, with traffic management personnel, safety barriers and directional signage deployed to assist road users.

MRT Corp said the closure was necessary for preliminary works under the Mutiara Line LRT Project’s CMC1 Package, which includes drainage and road widening works.
