Penang Marriott Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments Penang have appointed Chef Yab Han Wei as their new Executive Chef. He brings more than 30 years of international culinary experience to the role.
Chef Yab has held executive culinary leadership positions at InterContinental, Marriott, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Wanda Hotels, Kerry Hotel, and Avani Hotels. His career spans Malaysia, China, Thailand, and Indonesia.
Throughout his career, Chef Yab has overseen large-scale kitchen operations, developed dining concepts, and managed international events. His expertise covers Asian cuisine, international menu development, food quality management, cost management, and culinary team development.
“Kitchen is my home, food is my dream, and excellence is my lifelong pursuit,” Chef Yab said.
In his new role, Chef Yab will lead the culinary team at Penang Marriott Hotel, bringing his international experience to elevate dining experiences and enhance menu offerings.
Penang Marriott Hotel, part of a 55-story tower on Gurney Drive, offers 253 rooms. The property includes a specialty restaurant, an all-day dining buffet, a cafe, and The Great Room bar and lounge.
