More than 200 exhibition booths have taken over Setia SPICE Arena this weekend as the Penang Malaysia International Travel Mart (MITM) Travel Fair 2026 opens its doors to holiday planners across northern Malaysia.
Penang Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai launched the two-day fair on 18 July, calling it one of the region’s premier consumer travel events, according to Buletin Mutiara. The fair runs through 19 July at the venue.
“It provides an excellent platform for travel agencies, airlines, tourism boards, hotels, cruise operators, and other tourism stakeholders to showcase their latest travel products, packages, and exclusive promotions,” Wong said at the opening ceremony.
Organising chairman Andy Chuah said the Penang edition ranks among the largest travel fairs in the northern region, with more than 200 booths this year. ILovePenang confirmed the event takes place at SPICE Arena on 18 and 19 July.
“Besides promoting outbound travel, we are also placing strong emphasis on inbound tourism to attract more visitors to Malaysia,” Chuah said.
The fair arrives as Malaysia ramps up preparations for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, with tourism promotion efforts now extending into 2027. Wong said events like the MITM Travel Fair stimulate travel demand, strengthen industry partnerships, and encourage both domestic and outbound travel.
Visitors can browse travel packages, airline promotions, accommodation deals, cruise holidays, and destination offerings from local and international tourism players. The event functions as a one-stop destination for holiday planning.
Also present at the opening were Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan and Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association deputy president Cynthia Tan. Wong congratulated the MCTA Penang Chapter for its commitment to organising quality travel fairs across the country.
“Your continuous efforts have created valuable business opportunities for industry players while offering consumers attractive travel packages and exclusive promotions,” he added.
