The Juru–Sungai Dua Traffic Dispersal Project (PTJSD) has reached 28.75 per cent overall completion, with Package 1 works progressing on schedule for the October 2027 target, according to NST.

PLUS Malaysia Berhad said in a Facebook post that preliminary works have been fully completed, while utility relocation stands at 70 per cent and geotechnical work at 68 per cent. Package 1 covers the upgrading of the East–West Roundabout, improvements to the traffic light system, and the construction of a new elevated slip road at Jalan Tun Hussein Onn.

The 17.3-kilometre project spans South, Central and North Seberang Perai and is expected to benefit 200,000 daily users. Bernama reported that the project, estimated to cost RM3 billion, will redirect 30 per cent of traffic to a new direct route, cutting peak-hour travel time from one hour to 20 minutes.

PTJSD is being implemented with the Ministry of Works and the Malaysian Highways Authority to address congestion along the Juru–Sungai Dua corridor, the main route connecting Penang with states in the northern peninsula.
