A shipping agent at Port Klang allegedly threatened to shoot a Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) officer who was carrying out enforcement duties at the country’s busiest port.
According to NST, the incident happened on 13 JULY at around 2pm. Port Klang MCBA Commander Deputy Comm Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the suspect, believed to be an agent of a company operating at the port, made the threat while the officer was on duty. A police report was lodged at the Klang Selatan District Police Headquarters.
“Action will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the criminal laws in force against any party found committing an offence,” Nik Ezanee said in a statement on 14 JULY, as reported by The Star. He warned that any form of threat, intimidation, harassment, or attempt to prevent a public servant from carrying out their duties is a serious offence that would not be tolerated.
MCBA, formerly known by its Malay acronym AKPS, said it remained committed to safeguarding the safety and welfare of its officers as they carry out their responsibility of enforcing the law and protecting the country’s borders.
Nik Ezanee urged the public not to speculate or spread information that could interfere with the police probe, adding that MCBA would give its full cooperation to investigators.
“Anyone found to have violated the law will face firm action in accordance with the relevant legal provisions,” he said.
