Owners of diesel-powered pickup trucks and jeeps can now apply for an additional 100 litres of subsidised diesel per month under the Budi Madani Diesel (Budi Diesel) initiative.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali announced the expanded quota on 27 June, clarifying that all eligible diesel vehicles registered under individuals have a base monthly quota of 200 litres. Jeeps and pickup truck owners can apply for an extra 100 litres, bringing their total entitlement to 300 litres per month.
“That 200 litres is only the base quota. Those with pickup trucks and jeeps can apply for an additional 100 litres,” the minister said.
The additional quota is available nationwide. Applications can be made via the budimadani.gov.my portal or in person at any Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) branch. LHDN offices in Sabah and Sarawak will open over the weekend to assist.
To qualify, applicants must own a privately registered diesel vehicle in their name, hold a valid driving licence, and possess a valid vehicle licence (road tax).
The initiative kicked off on 27 June with subsidised diesel priced at RM2.15 per litre via MyKad verification in Peninsula Malaysia. Full nationwide implementation begins 1 July, with the subsidised price dropping to RM2.10 per litre for eligible Malaysians.
Minister Armizan advised motorists that the pump may display a higher price under the automatic pricing mechanism, but the subsidised rate will be reflected on the receipt.
“The pump will show prices under the automatic pricing mechanism, but the subsidy will be reflected in the receipt,” he said.
The expanded quota addresses calls from assemblymen, particularly in Sabah, to raise the limit from 200 to 300 litres to match actual travel patterns and vehicle usage.
