A 31-year-old Myanmar national was found dead at his home in Taman Belibis, Simpang Ampat, with multiple stab wounds on 31 May.
Seberang Perai Selatan District Police Chief Superintendent Jay January Siowou said the victim was confirmed dead at the scene at approximately 3:20pm. A 26-year-old woman, the victim’s wife, was injured in the incident and is receiving treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital.
Police have arrested three suspects. The main suspect, a 38-year-old man, was apprehended by members of the public at the scene and handed over to officers. Two women were subsequently detained to assist investigations.
Superintendent Siowou said the incident is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute. A knife believed to be the murder weapon has been seized, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being analysed.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 326 for causing grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon. The victim’s body has been sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem.
