JPJ: Honda to recall 430 motorcycles nationwide over handle lock and wiring harness defects

Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd will recall 430 units of Honda motorcycles across two models starting 25 May, following the detection of technical issues that could affect vehicle safety.

Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the recall involves 160 units of the CMX500A model (2023-2024 production year) over handle lock screw loosening, and 270 units of the CBR650RAC model (2024-2025) over a short circuit risk in the wiring harness.

All affected owners will be contacted directly by Boon Siew Honda to coordinate inspection slots, though walk-ins at any Boon Siew Honda service centre nationwide are also accepted.

Inspected components identified as faulty will be replaced free of charge, with costs fully borne by Boon Siew Honda.

“All vehicle owners of the involved models are requested to make plans to enable the recall and vehicle inspection process to be carried out as soon as possible,” Aedy Fadly said in a statement.

JPJ said it will monitor the implementation of the recall process to ensure all affected units are inspected and certified safe for road use.

For inquiries, vehicle owners can visit any Boon Siew Honda service centre, contact the hotline at 04-506 3333 or 03-6144 0963, email [email protected], or visit boonsiewhonda.com.my.
