Traffic on major expressways remains smooth despite an increase in vehicle volume ahead of the Aidilfitri holiday. A spokesperson for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) reported that as of 11.30 am, traffic on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK) was still flowing smoothly.
However, traffic volume is expected to rise after 2 pm as people commence their journeys to their hometowns. In the Gombak area, heading towards Genting Sempah, traffic remains under control with no congestion reported. Routes to the east coast and northern regions are also moving without issues.
“For the southbound route, traffic is moving slowly from Kempas towards the Pasir Gudang Intersection in Johor,” the LLM spokesperson said to Bernama. Meanwhile, in Penang, state deputy police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin noted that vehicle volume was expected to increase further today as people begin their travel for the Aidilfitri holiday.
He mentioned that the police had intensified traffic control and monitoring efforts to ensure smooth travel, particularly on major routes. The public can access the latest traffic updates through the toll-free PLUSLine at 1-800-88-0000 and the X account @plustrafik, or via the LLM hotline at 1-800-88-7752 and the X account @llmtrafik.
