Gurney Plaza, a popular mall in Penang, unveiled its new Chinese New Year theme, “A Prosperous Voyage,” to much excitement last evening. The event was attended by Ms Selina Ng, Head of Retail at CapitaLand, Peter Chan, General Manager of Mall Management, and YB Chris Lee, the state assemblyman for Pulau Tikus.
Gurney Plaza wishes all shoppers a smooth journey as they enter the year of the rabbit with the 38ft tall Ming-inspired Treasure Fleet. Located in the heart of Gurney Plaza, this piece serves as the centerpiece of the old Chinese pier theme, “A Prosperous Voyage”. Shoppers will be accompanied by 18 rabbits and windmills placed within the premises, creating a picturesque view that is perfect for taking photos.
In addition to shopping, Gurney Plaza is offering a Festive Fair from 5th to 20th January, featuring a wide selection of festive goodies and delicacies from brands such as Souper Tang, JDX Gift, Jin Ye Ye, Yong Sheng, Song Ho Li, JMM Cookies, and Gift Master x Hock Moon Hiang.
Gurney Plaza is also hosting a variety of performances and activities on weekends from 7th to 29th January. These include the Single Acrobatic Lion Dance on High Poles by the 2018 Genting World Lion King Champion on 7th January and the Double Lion Dance with GOP on 8th and 29th January at the Alfresco Area at 6pm. Other activities include the Community Paper Block Printing by Keng Hwa Carving Studio in collaboration with Penang Art District and the Chinese New Year Pastry Festival by TLM from 14th to 15th January from 4pm to 10pm at the Amphitheatre and Garden Area, located next to the mall.
