Three Restaurants Shut Down Over Rat Infestation Concerns

Featured

Three eateries in George Town have been ordered to close for 14 days after rat droppings were found in their kitchens during an operation conducted by the local authority, the Penang Island City Council (MBPP).

The closure was enforced as part of the council’s efforts to maintain hygiene and food safety standards. The operation was carried out to ensure that food establishments comply with health regulations and to protect public health.

According to the MBPP, the three eateries were found to have significant health violations, including the presence of rat droppings in their kitchen areas. This discovery prompted immediate action to close the establishments until they can meet the required hygiene standards.

The 14-day closure is intended to give the eateries sufficient time to rectify the issues and ensure their premises are clean and safe for food preparation. The MBPP will conduct follow-up inspections to verify that the necessary improvements have been made before allowing the eateries to reopen.

This enforcement highlights the council’s commitment to maintaining high standards of public health and safety, particularly in the food industry, to prevent the spread of diseases and protect consumers.
