Adrian Chua has been appointed Multi-Property General Manager for Penang Marriott Hotel, Marriott Executive Apartments Penang, and Marriott Residences Penang, effective 1 April 2025.
Chua takes over from Subash, who recently retired after 50 years in the hospitality industry.
With over 30 years of experience, Chua has worked with major hotel brands including Intercontinental Hotels Group and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. His career began in 1996 at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s Lafite French fine dining restaurant.
Chua joined The Westin Kuala Lumpur in 2007 as QBA Restaurant and Bar Manager. He later helped launch the first Aloft in Asia Pacific outside North America – Aloft Beijing Haidian.
His career includes senior positions at multiple Marriott properties across Malaysia and China, including The Westin Kuala Lumpur, Four Points by Sheraton Beijing, Le Méridien Qingdao, Sheraton Xi’an, and The Westin Beijing Chaoyang.
Most recently, Chua served as General Manager of Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah. Outside of work, he enjoys cycling and exploring new foods.
The Penang Marriott Hotel, part of a 55-storey tower on Gurney Drive, offers 223 rooms with amenities including an M Club lounge for Marriott Bonvoy elite members, Kids Club, 24-hour fitness centre, steam room, and outdoor infinity swimming pool. The hotel, which opened in February 2024, features dining options and meeting facilities for business travellers.
