Hard Rock Hotel Penang has announced its milestone 10th Rock to Rock Run, scheduled for 15 June 2025. The charity event aims to raise RM50,000 for two local beneficiaries.
The annual run, which began in 2010, will support Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Ferringhi and Caring Hearts Berhad. Funds raised will help create an inclusive classroom for students with disabilities and support education for refugee children.
Speaking at the press conference, YB Daniel Gooi, Penang State Executive Councillor for Youth, Sports and Health, highlighted the event’s significant impact. “Since its launch in 2010, this charity event has supported the local community and promoted health awareness. Over the years, total donations have exceeded RM500,000,” he said.
Michael Smeeton, General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Penang, emphasised the event’s community focus. “This is a special one for us, as we celebrate a decade of a journey that started with a simple mission in 2010: to give back to our community. Today, it has become a symbol of unity, kindness and the power of collective effort,” he said.
The event offers two categories: a Competitive Run (10.2 km) priced at RM99 and a Fun Run (3.8 km) at RM90 per person. Registration opens from 9 January to 28 February 2025, with spots limited to 2,000 runners.
Participants will receive an exclusive jersey T-shirt, finisher medal, and e-certificate. To mark the 10th edition, runners can upgrade to a limited edition commemorative T-shirt for an additional RM30 or purchase it separately for RM50.
The event is co-organised by the Penang Amateur Athletic Association, with support from the Penang State Sports Council and Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang. Key partners include Decathlon Malaysia, Sanyu Sdn Bhd, and Lee Sportswear International.
Race pack collection will take place on 13-14 June 2025 at Hard Rock Hotel Penang. Interested participants can register at howei.com/event_details/rocktorockrun2025.
