Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng assumed his official duties as Penang police chief at a handover ceremony at the state contingent police headquarters on 22 June 2026.
The 57-year-old replaced Datuk Azizee Ismail, who retired after 34 years and six months of service. The ceremony was held at the senior officers’ mess and witnessed by Bukit Aman Management Department director Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid.
Lim, formerly the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department Forensics and Strategic Planning deputy director, assured the public he would maintain peace and order in the state with the support of all police personnel at contingent and district level.
“I found that the security level of Penang is among the best in Malaysia. I would like to congratulate the Penang community for their continued cooperation with the police in tackling crime,” he told reporters after the ceremony.
“The strong cooperation between community and police is an important factor contributing to the safety of the state,” he added.
Lim stressed that every police personnel must carry out their duties professionally, with integrity and in compliance with the law. He said the active involvement of local communities and government agencies was also required to address factors contributing to rising crime.
