Penang-born fashion photographer Danny Lim is coming home. His first solo exhibition in Malaysia, titled Good Morning_____, opens on 9 May 2026 at Hin Bus Depot Gallery in George Town and runs until 17 May 2026.

Based in New York, Lim has spent years shooting for international publications including Interview Magazine, Vogue (HK, Japan, and Korea), Numéro Berlin, Document Journal, and ODDA Magazine. His client roster spans Calvin Klein, Burberry, and Luar, with portrait subjects that include Dylan O’Brien, Naomi Watanabe, and Shawn Yue.
For this exhibition, he steps away from the world of high fashion entirely.

Good Morning_____ presents a series of quiet portraits of Malaysian youth, cast by Tham Casting and produced by Sara Kong. The subjects are photographed in their simplest form, stripped of the styling and theatrics that define Lim’s commercial work. A text installation by Kelly Lim accompanies the photography on-site.

The exhibition text sets the tone: “A beginning. A quiet moment of arrival. A moment of becoming. For a photographer returning to the rhythms and familiarity of home, this exhibition is that morning. Each portrait is a personal greeting: to a friend, a name, a presence. Intimate yet open, they reflect a generation of youth in Malaysia at their own daybreak, remaining confident, wide-eyed, and undefined.”
The show positions itself as both a personal and communal act. Lim returns to George Town not just to display his work, but to start a conversation with the place that shaped him.
The opening is on Saturday, 9 May 2026, from 12:00 pm onwards. Admission is free and open to all.
