Jim Carrey is a married man for the third time. The “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” actor recently married Min Ah, his girlfriend of several years, in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles, his representative confirmed on 1 October, according to the Los Angeles Times. No date or venue was released, and celebrity news site TMZ was first to break the story.
The wedding came seven months after the couple made their public debut at the 51st César Awards in Paris on 26 February, where Carrey, 64, accepted an honorary award for his career, Page Six reported. Min Ah sat alongside Carrey’s daughter, Jane, and his grandson, Jackson, at the ceremony.
Carrey delivered his acceptance speech entirely in French and used it to confirm the relationship. “Thank you to my marvelous family, my daughter Jane and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and always,” he said. “Thank you to my sublime companion Min Ah. I love you, Min Ah. You are an angel.”
The pair had kept the relationship away from the public eye before that night. Celebrity news site Just Jared published photos of the couple in February 2022 outside the Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles, where they had attended a benefit show headlined by comedian Judd Apatow. Little else is known about Min Ah.
The marriage is the third for Carrey. He wed actor Melissa Womer in 1987 and they divorced in 1995, sharing daughter Jane Erin Carrey. He married “Dumb and Dumber” co-star Lauren Holly in 1996; that marriage ended in 1997.
Carrey’s other past romances include singer Linda Ronstadt, Oscar winner Renée Zellweger and actor-model Jenny McCarthy.
The star built his fame on comedy films through the 1990s, including “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” and “The Mask”, and later starred in “Bruce Almighty” and “The Truman Show”. He said in 2022 that he was “fairly serious” about retiring, then softened that view in December 2024 at the premiere of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”.
“That might have been hyperbole,” Carrey said at the time. He has since been reported to be in talks for more projects, including a live-action “The Jetsons” film and a sequel to “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”.
