A seven-year-old autistic girl has died after an incident at an apartment in Kuala Terengganu, with police confirming no foul play is suspected.
The Star reported that Kuala Terengganu police chief Asst Comm Azli Mohd Noor said authorities received a call at 7.50am on 25 July reporting a young girl found on the sixth-floor parking area of the Ladang Tok Pelam Apartments.
The victim, Nur Muazzam Aisya Mubi, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah (HSNZ). Investigations and a post-mortem examination concluded that her death resulted from severe blunt force injuries sustained in a fall, with no evidence of foul play.
According to Malay Mail, the family had rented the homestay unit to attend an entrepreneurship seminar at Yayasan Pembangunan Usahawan. The girl’s mother, Nor Azera Ismail, 36, said the family arrived at the apartment around 9.30pm on 24 July. She recalled feeling uneasy after noticing the bedroom window, which the child later tried to open around midnight.
Nor Azera said around midnight, as the family prepared to sleep, she saw her child trying to open the bedroom window.
“I looked for something to secure her but could not find any rope. Eventually, I found a ribbon from a bunga telur and tied our hands together to be alerted if she woke or wandered,” she said at the HSNZ Forensic Department.
The next morning at 6am, Nor Azera found her daughter still asleep and left her in the bedroom while she packed in the living room. A fellow resident later knocked on the door asking if her daughter had fallen.
“I immediately rushed into the room to check, and when I looked out the window, I saw her lying in the car park below. I called my husband, and we rushed downstairs.
“Only God knows the grief and heartbreak. I never expected this to happen,” she said.
ACP Azli said the mother realised her daughter was missing only after the resident informed her. He advised the public not to speculate on the case or circulate photos of the victim out of respect for the grieving family.
