The Penang Women Chamber of Commerce (PWCC) has opened registration for its Business Scaling and Expansion Summit 2026, a one-day conference aimed at helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) adopt digital tools and artificial intelligence to grow their businesses.
The summit, themed “Empowering SMEs through Digital Growth, Leadership and Strategic Expansion”, takes place on 28 August at St Giles Wembley Hotel, George Town, from 9am to 6pm. It is HRD Corp claimable.
PWCC president Koh Shu Juan said the event was designed to answer the questions business owners repeatedly ask: where to start with digitalisation, how to use AI in practice, and where to find funding and support.
“Today, businesses are operating in an environment that is changing faster than ever. AI is transforming industries, customer behaviour continues to evolve, and digitalisation is accelerating at an unprecedented pace,” she said at a press conference at Komtar, as reported by Buletin Mutiara.
The summit brings together government leaders, Meta’s Small Business Growth Academy, funding agencies and industry experts. A key draw is the Meta Small Business Growth Academy workshop, delivered by Meta Malaysia’s public policy team together with certified lead trainer Ashley Ong. The session covers how to use Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Business to generate leads and accelerate growth.
PWCC adviser Datin Seri Datuk Annie Chin said the summit reflected the chamber’s determination to mobilise resources and create opportunities for the SME ecosystem in Northern Malaysia.
“It takes vision, commitment and countless hours of coordination to build a platform like this. More importantly, it reflects PWCC’s determination to identify solutions, mobilise resources and create meaningful opportunities that will strengthen the SME ecosystem,” she said.
Penang Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim described the summit as an important platform for advancing women’s economic empowerment in the state.
“This is more than just a business event. It is an opportunity to inspire more women to venture into entrepreneurship, grow their businesses and build valuable professional networks,” she said.
PWCC previously held a conference on “Empowering Women Through Digitalisation” at The Ship Campus in Batu Kawan, targeting over 300 attendees across physical and virtual formats.
