ARSENAL have finally ended their two-decade Premier League title drought, defeating Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on 18 May to bring the trophy back to North London under Mikel Arteta.
The achievement was the centrepiece of the latest episode of Yahoo Sports podcast “The Cooligans”, hosted by Alexis Guerreros and Christian Polanco, which asked whether the result finally erases Arsenal’s reputation as “bottlers” and whether the young squad could become the Premier League’s next dynasty.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani joined the show to react to Arsenal’s victory and to outline a new initiative focused on securing affordable tickets for New Yorkers ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Former USMNT midfielder Stu Holden also featured, discussing the pressure facing the United States men’s national team during a home World Cup. He argued that the tournament “will transform soccer culture in the United States forever” and offered advice for Christian Pulisic as the face of American soccer heading into the biggest moment of his career.
The episode closed with the hosts revealing and debating six World Cup dark horses — under-the-radar nations with the right mix of talent, chemistry, and potential to spring a surprise on home soil.
The full episode is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube via Yahoo Sports.
