Elderly Man with Disabilities Found Deceased in House Fire

GEORGE TOWN: In the early hours of today, a tragic incident unfolded on Jalan Kampung Pisang, Air Itam, where a fire engulfed two houses, claiming the life of an elderly man with disabilities (PwD) in his 60s.

The Operations Centre of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in Penang received a distress call reporting the fire at 3.44 am. In response, a team of firefighters from the Paya Terubong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) swiftly arrived at the scene.

Upon their arrival, the firefighters encountered a distressing sight, as both village houses located adjacent to each other were ablaze. Immediate efforts were made to extinguish the flames.

Tragically, the lifeless body of the victim was discovered in one of the house’s rooms. The authorities promptly arranged for the body to be transported to Penang Hospital for a thorough autopsy.

The precise cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still under investigation, as authorities work diligently to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.
