Penang and Perak have become the latest states to be affected by floods, while the number of evacuees at temporary relief centres in Kelantan, Kedah, and Perlis has continued to rise as of 8 pm. However, the flood situation in Terengganu has eased, with a decrease in the number of evacuees as some residents have returned home due to improving conditions.
In Penang, a total of 128 people from 30 families in Permatang Berangan, Tasek Gelugor, have been relocated to two centres opened this afternoon: Kampung Desa Puri with 115 evacuees from 28 families, and SK Pengkalan Jaya, sheltering 13 evacuees from two families.
Tasek Gelugor Fire and Rescue Station chief, Mohd Yazi Taib, stated that heavy rainfall and the overflow from Sungai Jadak had resulted in flooding at Kampung Desa Puri and Kampung Simpang Tiga Tasek Gelugor.
In Perak, two relief centres have been opened, one each in Batang Padang and Perak Tengah, though the number of evacuees is yet to be confirmed.
