We had been experiencing epic sunsets these past few days and everyone is posting their captures. It started off earlier with hues of blue and lilac, then purple and recently red.
One user Vege Gee sent this photo of the awesome sunset looming over a particular bank. He did not elaborate on the picture but netizens are quick to conclude that this might be a warning about the increasing COVID-19 infections in Penang.

Here’s a shot of the purplish sunset cast upon the facade of some houses in Batu Ferringhi. It had rained a while earlier before this photo was taken. PP Tan noted that the colours looked a lot different from the photo he shot and you have to experience it in real life to see the true colours.

Another user Iron Keong sent us his shot from Air Itam taken approximately at the same time as the ones above. He had just returned home from work when he saw the phenomenon and quickly took out his phone to snap the shot.

It appears that this phenomenon is common and caused by the different wavelengths of the sun. We don’t have access to a reputable meteorologist locally so you just go here and read what Amanda Fiegl wrote after she interviewed Stephen Corfidi and learn about it yourself 🙂
