Police have confirmed that a woman and her daughter, discovered dead in a flat on Jalan Bukit Gambir on Monday, had been deceased for over a week.
Penang deputy police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin stated this assessment was based on the post-mortem conducted on the two. “The autopsy results found that both have been dead for over a week and there was no evidence of foul play. The doctor was also unable to determine the cause of death because the bodies were already badly decomposed,” he told Bernama.
Media reports indicate the remains of a 40-year-old woman and her two-year-old child were found decomposing in the Jalan Bukit Gambir flat in Bayan Lepas, after members of the public reported a foul odour.
Police confirmed that, based on the autopsy carried out at the Penang Hospital’s (HPP) Forensic Department, there were no injuries or wounds on the remains. Internal examination revealed decayed organs but no suspicious injuries. The police have maintained the case classification as sudden death.
